I slept in today because I have OP duty tonight from 1 to 7 in the morning. I think that is going to be a good time to have it. It is nice and cool. The wind blows in off the river and it is actually nice up there at night.
When I say I slept in, I mean I really slept in to almost 10:00. I haven't slept that long in a very long time. Well I didn't actually slept that long, I made myself stay in bed that long because I knew once I got up, I will be up until 7 the next morning. I got up and went to check all the boards and make sure nothing has change.
The only thing you can count on is that everything is subject to change. Plans change on a daily bases along with duty assignment. No one understands this more then a guy coming out of Operations. Man I am glad I don't have to do that any more. I feel a huge weight has been taken off my shoulders. But nothing has been changed everything is the same.
I was getting ready go to the the Internet Cafe and e-mail you, my loving and adoring wife when I saw the guys from my platoon unloading and straigthing up the platoon connex. (I had to double check and make sure you weren't here honey LOL!!!)
So I stopped over and gave them a hand.
The platoon boxes and other stuff that was made up of metal were hot. We all got blisters on our hands from picking the hot metal items. They broke some of us off for lunch but me and a couple of others decided to stay and finish up. After we got through it was about 1:30 in the afternoon and I finally made it to the internet cafe.
After that I stopped off in the chow hall and picked up some bread and something to drink and went back to my tent and watched guess what? 24 and had two potted meat sandwiches and some tomato soup (send more potted meat, soup, and crackers).
Then I just layed around for a couple of hours until it was dinner time. I went to dinner, we had BBQ Ribs and Mac and Cheese both were good but of course not as good as yours or moms. Man do I miss moms Mac and Cheese.
Then I went back and double checked the schedule and nothing has changed except for the guy that I was going out with and it was Dye again. I was glad. I like going out there with him he is a pretty funny guy. Needless to say you don't get bored with him there. So I went back to see if I could get some more rest. I put on guess what? your right, 24 again. I finished the season before we went out to OP 3.
Well we left for OP about 1245 at night or in the morning ever how you want to look at it. It takes a little longer to get there at night because we can't use any head lights to get out there. Just our night vision. We got there and watched Dog Patch and the surounding area for the rest of the night. It was a nice relaxing night actually. Don't look like I will be going back to Dog Patch for a couple more days.
Charlie is out there for the next for days and looks like Alpha is taking it over after that. Then it goes back to us. Looking forward to going back out there. They say there is Air Condition in the house now. That will be nice. And that also took a port potty out there to for us to use. That is going to be really good.
Remember I love you guys and miss all of you terriblly. Tell Blake I hope he has fun at school and to be a good big boy for me.
Tell Drew that his daddy loves him. Even though he doesn't have a clue as to what you are telling him tell him any way please.
Oh by the way it is getting up to about 120 to 130 here now. It is suppose to get hotter too, the locals are saying. Can it actually get hotter???
