August 14th Email from Shane

Good Morning Love,
it sure was nice talking to you this morning or last night for you. We got lucky, about 2 minutes after I got off the phone with you they went down (the phones). So I guess that is what they were doing while we were talking.
It was good to finally be able to talk to Blake, I wished Drew was old enough to know when I talked to him on the phone and would say something back. Oh well I am sure I will be getting plenty of ear full when I get home.

Well my tent filled up today, now I am ready to move into the cans. They are trying to cram the same amount of people in my small tent as they are trying to put in the bigger tents and the math just doesn't work out. You know how it is.

I am not going back out to Dog Patch until about the 18th. And we haven't changed to the three day rotation yet but that doesn't mean that we wont by then. I am glad Blake is liking school and isn't having any problems getting back into the swing of things.

Had off most of the day except for the little odd and ends things that I had to do. We got back off of patrol about 1000 yesterday like I told you yesterday we were running a little late because of the hummer running out of gas. So I pretty much had the rest of the day off until it was time for me to go on Detainee Guard at 2200 to 0600 the next morning (10:00 P.M. to 6:00 A.M.). It was me, Chris Duiett, and Buddy Rose everything went smooth.

We had to go check on and do a head count every hour but other then that we just set there and made sure they didn't take any long walks. We were lucky they were asleep when we got there and other than doing head counts once an hour they stayed on there cots trying to sleep. So our shift was very easy. We got off a little late because one of our sister companies was a little late relieving us. Not going to say which company that was. But once they got there, we got off and came back to the company area where I got my NVG's replaced because my old ones broke on me, turned in my laundry, and went and called you and the boys. Once I did all of that it was about 9:00 or 10:00 in the morning before I got in the bed.

Oh yeah I worked in a shower just before bed. So I woke up about 11:30 or 12:00 with new room mates getting ready to move in. Man I hated to see that. Oh well I hope they like my unusual schedule. If not oh well. Tomorrow I think I have Pad duty again it is starts at 7:00 P.M. until 1:00 A.M. Then I go back to OP 3 and then to Dog Patch. That is about all for today.

I love you and can't wait until I can wrap my arms around you again. I really missing you guys.
